Roehampton University recognised the pioneering work of both Geoff Thompson and the Youth Charter, with Thompson awarded an " Doctorate of Laws, Honoris Causa". The London ceremony marked a long association with the Campus.Thompson presented his Youth Charter vision to students of the international Faculty in 1993, where he set out the role sport would play in the new South Africa.
